Come learn the art and a little bit of the science behind making your own handcrafted soap!
In this hands-on beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn the basics of traditional cold-process soap making from start to finish. We’ll walk through the ingredients, equipment, safety practices, and techniques you need to understand how artisan soap is made.
Then comes the fun part: creating your own custom loaf of soap! You’ll be able to choose your fragrance and colors and add decorative toppings to make your loaf uniquely yours. You’ll take your freshly made loaf home with instructions for curing it before you share with your friends & family. Homemade bars of soap make great gifts!
What You'll Learn
- The basics of cold-process soap making
- How oils, lye, and other ingredients work together to create soap
- Proper soap-making safety and handling
- Simple techniques for customizing and decorating artisan soap
Important Safety Information. We will be working with lye (sodium hydroxide) during this class. Safety is a priority, and proper handling procedures will be demonstrated and followed throughout the class.
Participants are required to wear closed-toe shoes and long sleeves. Please dress accordingly, you will not be able to participate in the soap-making portion of the class without appropriate clothing.
Gloves and protective eyewear will be provided.
No previous soap-making experience is needed. Just bring your creativity and come ready to learn something new!
